The Undisputed “King" Of All Muscle
Trucks EVER Built!
On February 2, 2004, the all new Dodge Ram SRT-10 made
history, as it
claimed its place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the
“World’s Fastest Production Pickup Truck". Fresh off the assembly line,
the Dodge Ram SRT-10 unleashed its Viper V-10 power, proving its
dominance with a two-lap, both-directions average speed of 154.587
mph
on the 4.71-mile oval at the DaimlerChrysler Proving Grounds in Michigan.
The record-breaking run was certified by both Guinness World Records
and the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), setting the bar higher than
ever before. The previous record was 147.54 mph, set by the Ford SVT F-150
Lightning, before the Dodge Ram SRT-10 even went into production.
Driving the Ram SRT-10 to this historic moment was Brendan Gaughan,
a six-time winner in a Dodge Ram in the 2003 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
“I’ve driven some fast trucks in my time, but setting a Guinness world
record is an experience like no other", he said.
To Commemorate this acheivement,
SRT came out with this Commemorative
Edition SRT10 Viper Ram.
In 2004, Dodge / SRT released a trio of “Commemorative
Edition”
SRT vehicles to celebrate the Excitement of the Brand, Power, World Record
Setting Achievement
and Performance of three of the hottest production vehicles on the road
at the time. Those vehicles
included the 2005 Dodge Viper SRT-10, 2005 Dodge Neon SRT4, and 2005 Dodge
Ram SRT-10.
Only available in Regular Cab configuration, the Dodge
Ram
SRT-10 Commemorative Edition also featured Blue stitching on the
seats, shift boot, shift knob, and steering wheel. The floor mats
were embroidered with matching stitching with SRT-10 logo. Each
Commemorative Edition also came standard with 22-inch polished
wheels, brushed aluminum scuff plates, and a hard tonneau cover.
Each model featured a distinctive paint scheme of Electric Blue
“dual-fang” racing stripes over a Bright White exterior color. Each
Commemorative Edition vehicle included unique interior
features, such as a numbered plaque and a special edition SRT book.
My SRT10 Commemorative is one of only a handful (13) produced
without the hard tonneau
cover. Because the Factory was unable to meet
early production demands, they let a few out the door without covers.
Under the hood is the beloved 8.3-liter (505 cubic-inch) VIPER V10
engine producing 500 horsepower and 525 lb.-ft.
of torque. The VIPER V10 delivered 90% of
its
torque from 1,500 to 5,600 rpm. Mated to a Tremec T-56 6-speed
manual transmission, the Ram SRT-10 Regular Cab was capable of a 0 to
60 mph
time of 4.9 seconds. Depending on how fast the driver could shift, the
5,130 lb.
pickup could run the 1/4-mile in 13.6 seconds @ 106 mph.
