The Dodge Challenger SRT-8 was the top performance model of the Third
Generation Dodge Challenger. Introduced in 2008, the SRT-8 was
fitted with a 6.1L, 372 Ci. Hemi V8, Producing 425 HorsePower.

That number should be very familiar to the average Mopar Enthusiast.
The Legendary 426 HEMI has an advertised HorsePower of 425.

It was almost four decades since we saw a new Dodge Challenger,
and in the intervening years there have been a few changes. Okay,
if you want to be picky, the last car to be called a Challenger
disappeared from the Dodge lineup in 1983. However, that
Challenger, introduced in 1978, was an anemic little four-banger made
by Mitsubishi, capable of 0-to-60 mph in 13.6 seconds
and the quarter-mile in 19.1 at 71 mph.

That kind of performance might challenge guys on skateboards,
but it looked pretty pathetic compared with real Challengers, such as the one
we fell in love with in the early 1970's.

A trip Kevin would make periodically was to see the Petty's.
We were fortunate to be able to visit the Petty's with Kevin's Car in Spring 2024

Kevin enjoyed his visits with Richard, Maurice and the entire Petty Family

When introduced in 2008, the New Challenger SRT8 had no problems
holding its own, just like
the original 1970 Challenger. Both having a Hemi V-8, the
original bad-boy 426, rated at 425 horsepower and 490 pound-feet of torque.
Both had no problems being the king of the turnpike.

This 2008 Challenger was Ordered new at Bolle's CDJR in Bolton, CT by Kevin Hodge,
my good friend and officer of our Club Mopars In Motion
. This Challenger
was one of 3 in Kevin's collection. Kevin went to be with our
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the summer of 2020. I'm the
caretaker of two of his Challengers, this 2008 First Edition and
Kevin's 2015 Challenger Hellcat. We miss Kevin so much,
Caretaking Kevin's Mopars is an honor.
