Murray Ohio Co.

The Murray Ohio Manufacturing Company was formed in 1919
 in Cleveland, OH. Initially the company made automobile parts,
 but by the mid-1930s was producing bicycles, primarily for Sears.
 In 1939, Murray introduced the Mercury Pacemaker Bicycle at the World’s Fair
held in New York. The Pacemaker bicycle was designed by famed
industrial artist and designer Viktor Schreckengost.

After the war, Murray became known as a manufacturer of low-cost bicycles,
and placed its own brand on some of the Bicycles it made. Murray left Cleveland
 in the 1950s and moved its factory and assembly plant to the
 American South, choosing a factory site in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee,
 with corporate headquarters located in Brentwood, Tennessee.

The Lawrenceburg facility began operations in 1956, and over the next
several decades, the complex grew to become one of the largest facilities
 of its type in the United States: 42.7 acres (173,000 m2) under roof.

 Youth bicycle production received a boost with the 1965 introduction
 of Murray's version of the small-tired, banana-seat,
wheelie bike pioneered by Huffy and Schwinn. The Murray Wildcat was born.

The Wildcat was also styled by Schreckengost, who gave it his
own interpretation of a chopper motorcycle, with high-rise handlebars,
a tall sissy bar, and a flared rear fender.

Murray continued to produce bicycles for Sears, the Foremost badged bikes for JC-Penney's
and others thru the 70's with such notable muscle bikes as the Eliminator,
Screamer, Maverick, Swinger and Wildcat.

1969 Foremost Eliminator A very popular bicycle for Murray. This bike came in all 3 configurations: coaster, 3 Spd. and 5 Spd. Was also available with 3 different front wheel and tire combos:  20/16, 20 and a skinny rail style 20 inch wheel n tire. The Gripps on the Foremost / JC-Penney Bicycle was a unique two piece design, a white inner grip with a translucent cover.	1970 Foremost Swinger The Swinger for 1970 was one of the most popular bicycles  offered by Murray. Priced low enough to attract many parents, built with all the cool stuff we wanted as kids. Tall Sissy bars and wide handle bars made these bikes real cool. This Swinger sports its original and very rare Striped and Checker Flagged Banana Seat.
1969 Murray Swinger V 5 Spd.   The most radical Murray bike for 1969 was Swinger / Eliminator. With its high back frame, Radical Chain guard, small 16 inch front, "Billy Bars" styled handlebars, tall padded sissy bar, Combo Drag Brake and Stick Shift gear changer.     The Coolest Shifter of all time!   Finished in Original Antifreeze Yellow.   As Purchased at the 2024 Mopar Nat's in Ohio	1970 Foremost Swinger 3 Purchased from its original owner, this Swinger 3 was in exceptional condition. Still had its original tires. Original accessories include: Speedometor, Padded tall sissy bar, Redline Tires and two tone Banana Seat. 1972 Hallmark Maverick 3 Made for Hallmark Stores, this bicycle is Brand New! The tires still have the nubbies on the treaded areas. Unique 3 Spd. Shifter, Signature Troxle Seat and Reflector are all original to the Maverick. A true time capsule. My wheels of choice for the 2024 Fords @ Carlisle Show.	Wanted! Murray Eliminator 3 or 5Spd.
