Dwight's 1969 Barracuda
The Man, the Legend, Dwight V. People know
him as Mr. Hemi,
Mr. 1st on race day. He has been called everything,
except
slow. I met Dwight in the summer of 1991 at
E-Town NJ. He
drove his 1967 Hemi GTX down from Canada to
sell at the show.
When I saw the car I thought, wow, what a
nice car. This guy must be
asking a million dollars for this. I overheard
Dwight talking to a
gentleman and he mentioned his price. I thought
to myself, I could
pinch some pennies and afford the asking price.
So, Monday morning
I called Dwight and he had no idea who I was
as we did not speak to
each other at the show. I made an offer and
the rest was history.
I came to find out that Dwight is a very talented
engine builder. Not only
did I buy a pristine 1967 Hemi GTX, but I
also bought the fastest one in
stock trim. The car ran in the 11.00s effortlessly.
Dwight is known for
building fast, reliable Hemi's that don't
need to be wrenched every weekend.
I can truly say that he sold me the finest
Hemi GTX I could ever own.
